Granular activated carbon (GAC) is made by crushing and sieving activated carbon into uniform granules. Packed into a filter bed, the granules give contaminants a huge surface to stick to while water or gas flows freely through the gaps between them.
It is the standard choice for water treatment and works equally well in gas-phase systems. Any mesh range can be made to order for your vessel and flow rate.
